Sway

Sway(by Pablo Beltran Ruiz)

Even though we don't know what it is with the name of this tune only,

we can recognize it is well known cha cha cha tune for Korean once we listen.

The representative artist I think among several musicians who covered this tune is Michael Buble.

<Reference Information: Artist Biography>

Michael Bublé is a prominent Canadian singer, songwriter and actor. This young and energetic singer had set his eyes on the world of jazz since childhood. With great jazz legends like Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney and Ella Fitzgerald being his inspirations, Michael Bublé followed their footsteps and became a successful classic jazz and soul singer. This Canada-born Grammy-winning singer has won the hearts of a million fans worldwide through his soothing voice and unique style. He credits his ever increasing-fame to his grandfather, who opened him up to the world of music and brought him numerous opportunities to showcase his talent to various artists and celebrities, thereby shaping his career and future. It was through his granddad’s collection of records of jazz and soul music that inspired him to take up singing seriously and become a vocalist at such a tender age, something that musicians struggle for years to achieve. His moving and expressive voice went on to break several records on Canadian, American, Australian, and European album charts, with every new studio album. Apart from being a jazz vocalist, he has ventured into acting and songwriting as well, besides taking up several television projects. This singing sensation has won a number of Canadian and international awards for his songs.

===============================================================================================

Nowadays, we have been preparing several tunes(about 30) for performance in Sep.

Among those tunes, I chose SWAY which it takes cha cha cha rhythm.

<Score>

Once a week(Mostly Sat) we meet and practice. We are a little bit big group(a dozen) who prepare about 30 tunes for concert.

Rhythm session: Drum 1, Percussion 2

Harmony: Base 1, Piano 1, Cindy 1, Guitar 1

Melody: Vocal 3, Alto 1, Violin 1   Total=13??

(Turns out it was a dozen first. But I became a member later. I'm a one of percussionists)

Playing shaker and guiro is kind of my thing. But I'd like to take piano session...

But, our current pianist graduated from B..klee Colleage of Music. I must play percussion.

During first meeting, we learned how to organize by playing several times. I took a short video which it shows only final part.

It gonna be perfect step by step. Our concert is going to happen on 16th Sep. We still have enough time to practice.

By the way, you know what? When you check this video, you can notice Vancouver is a city where usually immigrants live.

It seems that the percentage of population for real Canadian in Vancouver is lower than 20%.

Anyway, I'm going to take a full video once we are perfect in next meeting.

=================================(To be continue)========================================

After a couple of weeks, we practiced again. In this time I took a full practice video.

<Practice video for second week>

Date: 2017.7.29 9:29 PM

Location: 3528 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC

(As you can see) Since we didn't practice for the time being, we almost forgot the organization. So, we organized once again.

At the final moment, we played cha cha cha to end.

By the way, our group members suggested me to open YouTube channel. But I have been running this blog since 2012.
